 – In the morning Romans had ientaculum (breakfast), at noon, prandium (lunch), and cena (dinner)followed in the evening.  Delicious culinary delights, prepared using various ancient recipes can be enjoyed by the festival visitors at our Gastro corners on two locations – The Forum and Portarata, Traditional foods and beverages entice still even to date with specific tastes and aromas of the Mediterranean.  Laurus nobilis, Mentha pulegium, Honey-wine – Mulsum – even rose petals will fill the air over Pula with specialities from the the past bringing back to life ancient roman  times.

The association Birikina from Pula for the 12th the festival of Days of Antiquity - Pula Superiorvm concocted a rich program aimed at youngsters. As every year, the members of the association take account of the fact that children should enjoy the revival of history. Their creative games and drama workshops are open to pre-school and elementary school kids.

Learning history has never been more fun! It is only necessary to sit in the time-machine and set the date far in the past. Exploring the Antiquity through the games with the help of Caesar, Agrippina, Hercules and Diana.  The kids will be thrilled with the little gifts as well.  Side by side with the members of Birkina (Vesna, Srđan, Melisa and Patrik) will stand our gladiators, legionnaires and our 'scary' costumed lions!

Birikinus will also accompany the children in a children's parade through the ancient city. This year the traditional parade, which is organized in cooperation with Pula kindergartens and other educational institutions, estimates more than 200 little youngsters will attend accompanied by grown-ups.

Antique DanceWhile the intense combat takes place with the gladiators in the Arena, the original antique scenography of the Forum and Golden Gates of Pula are the ideal place to show some of the softer sides of history.  In the theatrical arts of ancient romans, as of those of the inhabitants of Pula, gracious ancient dances  play an important role.

Under the mentorship of Andrea Gotovina, accredited dance teacher, dancer and choreographer, the students of the workshop of scenic movement of the Istrian National Theater will add beauty to and grace to the 12th Days of Antiquity – Pulasuperiorvm.  Accompanied by live music the will perform in the manner of romans during their time.

The Istrian National Theater – was created by the City Theater of Pula in 1948.  One of the responsabilities of the INT is the Drama Studio who has been recruiting young actors in love with the theater.  The Drama Studio has an educational character to it, and as part of it's activities, other than the workshops, organizes and produces play for children and adolescents.

For the 12th Days of Antiquity – Pulasuperiorvm, we will be joined by the promising group of youngsters of the Antiquity Club of the Preparatory School of Pazin.

It is our great pleasure to welcome this young group of artists as we share a similar goal, if not the same goal: to popularize the historical antique roman themes in a new creative manner promoting innovative student expression.

They will be presenting themselves to the public through a play and if that were not enough they will do it in latin.  The play "Dominus et servi" has been prepared by the sophmores from the text-book "Lingua Latina per se illustrata", under the expert guidance of Professor Milica Maligec.  This is the story of a rich Roman who was the victim of a robbery and lost a little fortune in the process, 90 gold coins.  The Lord mounts an investigation in order to find the culprit, helping him with this task is his wife Iulia, who, it turns out, is also mixed up in the whole affair...

The roles in the play are played by members of the Antiquity club: Marko Mirosav (Lord), Hana Car (Iulia), Gianluca Draguzet (slave Medus), Denis Radolović (slave Davus). Publiku će kratko uputiti u radnju Marco Smoljan (narrator).

Many take Latin, or are taking Latin (such as these students) in school.  Wise latin sayings and proverbs still linger in our memories, but the true rarity lies in hearing being used in real and actual converstion.  This is exactly why we are looking forward to this new way of bringing to life the intangible kulture of a language that has long before disappeared from public speaking, but that has played a vital role in determining the culturological direction of our region.

The Antiquity club of the Preparatory School of Pazin was officially formed in 2008.  Their School is also well known as the traditional organizers of regional competitions for the knowledge of classical languages, where the hosts have to create and manage a program for the opening.

Other than organizing competitions and participating in various events, the students take part in a variety of projects through-out the shool year (making a model of a Roman house, preparing different specialities from the recipe book of the famous Apicius from the 1st century, dress-making and hairdoes of the ancient times, and the most difficult of all -  creating and preparing a theatrical play).
