Hercules in Roman mythology was a demigod , the son of the supreme god Jupiter and the mortal Alkmene ( later the patron of Pula ) . From early childhood, Hercules was special. As he lay in his crib Juno sent two snakes to kill him . Hercules strangled each snake with one hand , and then his nanny found him playing them as if they were toys .

teatar-narancaIn this story, Hercules falls in love with the beautiful nymph Maju, who is turned into a stone by the evil Medusa - a beastly woman with hair of snakes. On his journey to save his beloved nymph , our hero undergoes dazzling adventure, where he will meet a handful of characters from Roman mythology, such as Pluto, Bacchus, Venus, Centau , Juno. Hercules will have to prove his courage, ingenuity and willingness to help the troubled weak and thus save his Maju.

This authentic and original story is signed by Master of Arts Franjo Tončinić.

The show is produced in cooperation with popular Pula Dance Studio "AB Original" .

life exists only for a short while,
and time demands its toll.

Ensemble Musigenae at the13th Pula Superiorvm is composed by Samanta Stell , Sonja Stojnić , Nataša Dragun and Irene Vladisavljević , Loris Quargnal and Sebastian Stell .
They will performed four songs by Pula composers inspired by the antiquity. And this year you can expect a pleasant , musically expressive gathering in the spirit ancient  times.
Arinka Šegando - music from Inspirit's " Crispo ," which is played on Medulin's Visula, with topics like „Invocation of the muse“ , „Feast“ , „Juno“ , „Minerva and Venus“ , solo performances  will also add to the ambiance of ancient times.
Branko Okmaca - variations on " Seikilov Skolion " , the oldest fully preserved music notation in the world , carved into a tombstone in Greece around 200 BC . Dedicated to Pula Days of Antiquity and ensemble Musigenae .
Branko Radic - free interpretation of some fragments of ancient Greek songs premiered at the Days of Antiquity . Entitled " Tu mare greca ", calling on his muse the author seeks inspiration, while the Anthem of the Sun is typical of Hadrian period.
Marko Jovanovic - premiere of "Roman children " created using ancient motifs precisely for this year's Days of Antiquity . In the words of the author : The dream of Roman children who used to play on the banks of the clear Pula bay.

Dear friends, Pula Superiorvm , the largest Istrian festival of antiquity opens its doors on the 12th. Of June 2014 A.D. . We have been hard at work and fully commited to creating another great festival.  We will inform you over the coming weeks  of what is planned for the coming 13th Days of Antiquity. 

During the 3 days of the festival, visitors will be introduce in a rather interesting and fun way to a top-class program . This year, get ready for spectacular gladiators, legionnaires, antiquity buffet, antiquity dances, children's games, street performers , musical programs and many activities that accompany the inevitable innovation and originality of the festival . For starters, you can remind yourself what the festival was like last year by visiting our photo gallery where you can see how Andreas Chancellor carefully and meticulously recorded the event.

With great entertainment and a relaxed, casual atmosphere Superiorvm Pula - Days of Antiquity again brings us interesting days also marking the opening of the summer season in the city .

All who have experienced the Pula Superiorvm festival's atmosphere at least once, know that during the three days, we will be presenting the cultural and entertaining project that preserves and nurtures the cultural heritage of the town of Pula, promoting the development of the tourist season the county of Istria.

And don't worry, in order that everything goes according to the satisfaction of the citizens and visitors, an already well-established team will take care of this year's Days of Antiquity in order to offer  another unforgettable event for all to remember.

Given that the festival Pula Superiorvm every year attracts many tourists with rich cultural and entertainment programs, this year too, the Days of Antiquity have the full support of the Tourist Board of the City of Pula. An exhibition will be held at the Tourist Board, as part of the exhibition part of the festival.  The exhibition of photographs is by local Pula authors, who for twelve years in a row have tirelessly recorded our events – to whom we are, of course, immensely grateful, as a picture speaks a thousand words.

The local photographers are Marina Puh, Snježana Bratanović, Manuel Angelini, Andreas Kancelar i Goran Šebelić. The theme of the exhibition  is the Pula Superiorvm festival.  The 'Retrospective by Pula photographers' will display the most interesting events, people, shows, concerts, visitors, legionnaires, gladiators and attractive fights, costumes and other characteristic details of recently past Days of Antiquity.

Pula's Forum is the central square since the founding of the Roman colonies Pole.



Portarata (the lat Aurata Porta Aurea, or Golden Gate) Square in the center of Pula, located on the south side of Giardina and the Street of Sergi at the beginning.



The amphitheater in Pula and Pula Arena is the largest and best preserved monument of ancient architecture in Croatia.
